A study by Gartner shows that 85 percent of CEOs regards the CyberSecurity factor as essential for business growth. The research, conducted among just under five hundred CEOs and other senior managers worldwide, reveals a fundamental shift in how top managers assess security investments.
The role of cyber security has developed from a purely defensive function to a strategic growth hunter. In addition, it appears that a tight two thirds of CEOs are concerned about cyber threats, mainly driven by the increasing role of AI and the political debates on the use of advanced technologies.
‘Cyber security is no longer just about protection; It has become a critical motivation for business growth, “says David Furlonger, Distingughed Vice President Analyst and Gartner Fellow. “Now that 85 percent of CEOs acknowledge its importance, security leaders have the opportunity to demonstrate the value of cyber security investments, not only for protecting company resources, but also for making strategic business objectives possible.”
No more cost item
The research points to a direct connection between cyber security capacities and business growth. With increasing regulations and cyber threats that challenge competitiveness, CEOs see cyber security more and more as a enabler For business expansion and innovation.
“Effective communication is essential,” Furlonger continues. ‘CEOs must emphasize the role of security leaders in both protecting the organization and improving cyber security to stimulate growth. This includes assessing risks in foreign markets and protection of intellectual property, “he says.
The shift in risk tolerance has led CyberSecurity now to be seen as a strategic business function instead of a cost item. “For cisos and other security leaders, this offers an opportunity to reposition their role and to work more closely with top management to support business objectives.”
